Youth Advisor

have been working with youth groups since I graduated college. I have worked with ET Youth for over 10 years. I attended the Lower Susquehanna Synod Leadership Training camp for two years in high school and then my third year I was a cabin counselor. This is what ultimately piqued my interest in being a youth leader. I am a genetic counselor, currently working for UPMC Pinnacle at their cancer center in Mechanicsburg. I am the president for our bicycling race team Otterhaus/K&F Construction Racing. In 2019 I won the mid-Atlantic Time Trial Series (MATTS) for cat4 women. I also enjoy scrapbooking, traveling, spending time with my husband Andy and yellow lab Maggie, and being active outside.

I am very excited to continue my journey as an advisor for the Evangelical/ Trinity youth group this year. Having already participated in a few events through the last couple years with this youth group, I am excited to see what God has in store for this year. I participated in youth group leading up to my graduation from high school and have even participated in National Youth Conferences.
I graduated from Shepherd University in 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. I am currently employed as a 4th grade teacher for Salem Avenue Elementary School, in Hagerstown, MD. I have been a part of many professional ensembles including the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra and the Washington Redskins Marching Band. In my free time, I like to learn how to play new instruments, watch DC sports teams, and play video games.
I am looking forward to this year and being able to work with the youth group here at Evangelical/ Trinity Lutheran Churches. Having already worked with these young people so far, I am excited to continue this journey with them.

I am very honored to help advise the Evangelical/ Trinity youth group again this year. Youth group has always been very special to me, as I was a participant in the same youth group until my high school graduation in 2013. Youth group helped me connect spiritually with other people my age and helped to further my religious growth. I can honestly say that this would not have happened without the caring advisors that led the youth group when I was a participant.
Since my graduation from high school in 2013, I went on to further my education at Shepherd University. There, I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Piano Pedagogy in 2017. I am now a General Music Teacher at Bester Elementary School in Hagerstown, MD. This is my fourth year teaching at this school. Two years ago, we started our first after school choir at Bester, and the program has been growing. In addition to teaching public school, I teach private piano lessons at my house in the evening. Music and working with children have always been passions of mine. I am so grateful that I am able to combine my passions with my career. In my free-time, my hobbies include: practicing my instruments, painting, drawing, crocheting/ knitting, and making jewelry.
As previously mentioned, I am so excited to continue working with the youth at Evangelical and Trinity Lutheran Churches. I have already worked with the youth in past years and look forward to continuing to help advise.
