Becoming a member of Trinity Lutheran

For those who desire, membership into the congregation at Trinity is done in this way:

  • If you have never been baptized or if you have been baptized but are coming to Trinity from a non-Lutheran tradition then you will go through a period of instruction in the basics of the Christian faith and the Lutheran tradition. You either will  be baptized during a service of worship or you will affirm your baptism during a service of worship.
  • If are coming to Trinity from another Lutheran congregation and are in good standing we will receive you by a letter of transfer with a public recognition of that during a service of worship.
  • After being received into membership you are a confirmed and voting member of the congregation and remain that way so long as you receive Holy Communion or make a record of contribution in the current or preceding calendar year.
  • Chidren who are baptized are received as baptized members but are not confirmed and voting members.

PLEASE NOTE: No one is required to be a "member" of the congregation to participate in the life and ministry of Trinity. We welcome all people to worship, serve and be part of the community. We have many people who are actively involved at Trinity but do not maintain an official membership.
